Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (D-OH), was presented
the National Energy Leadership Award by the National Biodiesel
Board (NBB) at its conference. NBB was honored to give Kaptur
this award for her work promoting biodiesel, such as encouraging
DaimlerChrysler to factory fill the new diesel Jeep Liberty CRDs
with a B5 biodiesel blend. Mike Clark, Ohio soybean farmer and
NBB director, presented her with the award.

The Eye on Biodiesel awards were also presented,
with DaimlerChrysler receiving the Innovation award, America
Soybean Association the Impact award, Joe Biluck, Jr. accepted
the Inspiration award, Industry Partnership went to the Clean
Cities Program of the Dept. of Energy, and rocker Neil Young
accepted the Influencer award via videotaped speech. Actress
Daryl Hannah presented him with the award.

A Marine Workshop for South Florida boaters was
held after a press conference on the rising availability of biodiesel
in South Florida. Here a biodiesel blend from the TransMontaigne
terminal fuels the Water Taxi, which runs on B20.

Other highlights included the University
of Idaho provided a School Bus
Symposium for districts interested in introducing biodiesel into
their fleets; DaimlerChrysler provided a Jeep
Liberty CRD Ride and Drive, and Pete Bethune
of EarthRace gave updates on his B100 wave-piercing boat scheduled
to set
the circumnavigation record. The five Conference seminar tracks
were Technical, Fuel Distribution, Policy/Regulations, Market
and Users, with about 40 sessions.
